Making a Pedestal

Do you look at calls for art where the requirements of the gallery/ museums ask artists to provide your own pedestal and you don’t know where to start? Do you want to present artwork you own in a professional way, do you just want to learn some basic woodshop tools?

In this four- hour workshop participants will design, fabricate, and finish pedestals, and leave with the knowledge and skillsets to make their own. We will cover the industry standard materials, tools, and techniques used to create a professional pedestal.

Students will design a custom pedestal for a specific object, fabricate that pedestal using the panel saw and table saw, and paint the pedestal. They will leave with documentation and a step-by-step guide to make future pedestals.   Each person will be provided with the materials needed to create a pedestal.
